With fall and winter coming, this is the time of the year when people start using their fireplaces again and starting bonfires. While it is fun to use them, they also increase your risk of having a house fire. Take the time to make a home fire escape route for your family before the time comes you would need one. Educating yourself and your family is the first step in ensuring their safety in an emergency. Practicing this plan a couple of times is another way to make sure everyone in the home knows what to do. Another good tip would be to practice one time in the middle of the night, so you know your children are able to wake up and remember what to do.
