Snow Damage
1/2/2020 (Permalink)
While our winter in 2019-2020 has been fairly mild so far, it does not mean that it is not going to turn nasty by springtime. Before we get snow, SERVPRO of Allen, Barren, Hart, Green and Taylor Counties want to warn everyone about the risk of snow potentially turning into a water loss.
While it typically takes a few days for the snow to melt after a large snowstorm, it can still cause a leak in your foundation once that starts happening. With there being existing or new cracks, it is easy for trapped water to slowly seep in. This also happens quite a bit when the ground is still frozen, since it cannot absorb any water that needs draining. It is important when there is snow present to keep watch, and make sure your home is well protected.
There are also a couple of other things that can happen when water enters your home or business: odor and mold.
Calling a professional company to come out and take a look when water is present is your best bet at making sure each potential issue is avoided. The longer a loss sits, the worse the damage gets.
