Throughout the lifetime of your roof, it goes through regular wear and tear. But there are several things you can do over the years to help prolong life of your roof.
Check for Normal Wear and Tear
While your roof will eventually wear out, there may be times where there slight damage that can be easily fixed before it becomes worse. Twice a year, take the time to inspect your roof for any issues, so that you can have them repaired before it becomes a major issue. Also, do not forget to check on previous repairs.
Maintain Gutters
Gutters are important for a roof to properly drain, and remove water during rainstorms. Check that gutters are properly installed, and secure. It is also a good idea to semi-annually clean them for the best drainage possible.
Check for Storm Damage
After any storms blow through, check for any damage that it could have been caused issues for your home or businesses roof. This includes missing shingles, damaged shingles, or any flashing that has come loose.
Keep Your Roof Clean
Having items or debris on your roof can cause extra stress, and issues. Keep an eye on your roof in case there are any buildups of limbs or leaves. Having these items on your roof can also cause mold or mildew to begin growth, and can cause erosion.
