Danger of Chimney Fires

A chimney fire is characterized by loud cracking and popping noises, a lot of dense smoke, and an intense hot smell.

The explosive fires produce flames and dense smoke shooting from the top of the chimney and sounds similar to a low flying airplane. The undetectable chimney fires are slow-burning and do not get enough air to be visible, but the damage to the chimney  and nearby areas of the home is extensive.
